Why Choose This Bio Sponge Filter? First, it constantly supplies oxygen and provides good surface agitation for the fish tank. Second, it provides a dual filtration system, bio & sponge, to keep the water clean. Additionally, it is safe and gentle enough to avoid sucking up fish. The filter comes with two sponges (one to use now and a replacement), and it is recommended to clean the sponge every 2-4 weeks or whenever a decrease in bubbles is observed (use tank water for cleaning).
The filter container comes with a pack of bioceramic balls and can be disassembled, allowing you to freely replace other filter media as needed. It is easy to install.
How to Use? First, take the spare sponge off the filter after removing it from the box. Keep a sponge to restore its fluffiness and install the fixing buckles. Wash the filter to remove any dust before putting it in the aquarium. Connect the air pump and air tube (4mm) to the filter. Squeeze the sponge until it is full of water, making it sink to the bottom of the tank.
Precision Double Filtration: The hygger sponge filter consists of a circular bio cotton and a chamber base with bio-ceramic balls, providing both mechanical and biological filtration for aquariums. It is suitable for low-flow breeding like betta, guppy, shrimp, snail, and fish fry, or can be used as a pre-filter for other filtration systems and as an auxiliary filter for large tanks.
Working Principle: This air-driven sponge filter is powered by an air pump that uses the water-lifting effect generated by rising bubbles to drive water flow through the filter sponge. This effectively adsorbs excreta and residual bait, achieving the purpose of filtering and purifying the water quality.
Filtration, Culture, and Aeration: The biochemical cotton has a high-density pore structure, which can more easily catch impurities and particles in the water. The filter chamber is equipped with bio-ceramic balls that help break down waste and cultivate beneficial organisms. Additionally, a small bubble stone at the bottom can effectively increase the dissolved oxygen content in the water and generate a lot of bubbles.
Use and Maintenance: The fish foam filter includes two sponges, with one sponge staying on the filter before use. The filter container is easy to detach and can be freely replaced with any other filter media as needed. Hook the filter up to an air pump, and squeeze the sponge until it is full of water, making it sink to the bottom of the tank. The sponge should be washed approximately every 2-4 weeks (use tank water for rinsing) to ensure the filter works properly.
Three Sizes for Choice: Small (2.9"W x 4.1"H) works well for 1 to 20-gallon small aquariums with under 14" depth. Medium (2.9"W x 6"H) is suggested for 20 to 55-gallon medium-sized aquariums with under 19.7" depth. Large (3.9"W x 6.4"H) is suggested for 55 to 125-gallon aquariums with under 26.4" depth.
